Our Story
HEB Transit has been providing demand-response transportation solutions for HEB residents since 2006. Individuals are able to schedule rides for employment and employment-related trips, such as job training or job interviews, for a minimal fare. This service is provided through the cooperative efforts and financial support of volunteers and community organizations, such as United Way of Tarrant County, faith-based community members; the cities of Hurst, Euless and Bedford; Tarrant County and Catholic Charities of Fort Worth, which operates the service. HEB Transit continues to be driven by the community for the community.
Over its years of successful service, HEB Transit has celebrated many accomplishments. In 2007, the Texas Workforce Commission presented its Service to Workers Award to HEB Transit. Two years later, HEB Transit received the North Central Texas Council of Governments Regional Cooperation Award.
A record-breaking numbers of clients and trips have steadily grown over the years. In fact, HEB Transit has provided over 36,000 trips for the program to date. Many clients have used this service to eventually transition to long-term transportation independence.
Community leaders and advocates such as Rev. Beverly Springer, former associate pastor at First United Methodist Church of Euless, exemplify the community camaraderie that underpins the structure of HEB Transit. “One thing I see a lot of is people needing help to get to job interviews or to get to work once they get a job. Every day, I see more and more people who have lost their jobs or been evicted from their homes, and it just breaks my heart,” says Rev. Springer. “It’s definitely a service that’s needed in the community.”
HEB Transit is an important community service that looks to local support to help with the program’s enduring success. With continued partnership and collaboration from stakeholders and advocates, HEB Transit will continue to offer safe, reliable transportation within the community, and empower individuals to attain greater self-sufficiency and independence.
Please help us spread awareness of the service to those needing it, as well as to those who might consider supporting the program through volunteerism or donation. For details about partnering with HEB Transit, feel free to contact Ricardo DeLeon at 817-413-3902 or email at rdeleon@ccdofw.org.
